Our Trainers
Katy Peters
Katy is a travel and immunisation specialist nurse and the Founder and CEO of London vaccination clinic, overseeing 7 private nurse-led travel clinics in central London, she is a member of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and from where she was awarded the Cameron Lockie prize for excellence.
Katy is a leader in the field of immunisations, vaccine hesitancy, and travel health, a practice nurse and a previous aid worker for Medicines Sans Frontiers. Katy is a popular, engaging and motivational trainer.
Kamila Soltysik
Kami is an experienced travel health nurse and passionate traveller who has explored nearly 40 countries across the globe. She discovered her love for geography alongside her patients while working in a private, nurse-led travel health clinic in central London, where she served for many years as both a lead nurse and trainer.
Kami holds a qualification in Tropical Nursing from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and is a proud member of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in annual flu vaccination campaigns. Dedicated to both teaching and continuous learning, Kami brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and global insight to her practice.
Objectives:
We have a new format for our two day travel course which aims to prepare health care professionals to run a gold standard travel clinic, either within the NHS or privately.
The new format brings together both novice and experienced professionals to enable a supportive and collaborative working approach.
The learning areas include:
- Introduction to travel health
- The consultation and risk assessment
- The RIVA Geography lesson!
- Vaccine preventable travel diseases
- Vaccine schedules
- Special groups
- Travellers Diarrhoea (water and sanitation)
- Bite prevention (Zika, dengue, malaria)
Training includes:
- Certification
- Resources
- Access to Facebook group for support
Formal training by a suitably accredited provider should be mandatory for all health professionals offering medical advice to travellers.
Course in line with the RCN Travel health nursing, career and competence development.
